Raamla Mohamed, the former writer of ABC shows Scandal, created Reasonable Doubt television series. The series is based on the producer of the show, Shawn Holley experiences as a celebrity lawyer.

Reasonable Doubt is about a successful corporate criminal defense lawyer known as Jax Stewart, played by Emayatzy Corinealdi. She is married to husband, Lewis Stewart, played by McKinley Freeman, they have a teenage son and daughter. Jax is employed at a high-end Los Angeles law firm, as she deals with challenging cases of high-profile individuals while dealing with personal & marital issues.
There are 9 episodes in season 1 and 10 in season 2, both of which are an hour long. In season 1, we were blessed with Michael Ealy, who played Damon Cooke, a former client of Jax while she was employed as a public defender. Unfortunately, Damon was also Jax’s demise, he came into her life when she was having marital issues with her husband so, Damon was a good distraction. Consequently, she had an extra-marital affair and, by the time she tried breaking it off, it was too late. As a result, Damon kidnap her, held her hostage until she was rescued by her husband, Lewis.
In season 2, we’re introduced to a new heavy weight character, another successful lawyer named Corey Cash, played by the exceptionally talented actor, Morris Chestnut. This season was about the murder of one of Jax’s best friend abusive husband, as well as the reconciliation of her marriage while addressing the arrival of Lewis’ side baby.
I will admit that this show is not for everyone because of the vulgarity or, perhaps, some of the same stereotypical connotations or exploitations that we are accustomed to in what some would call a “black show.” However, I don’t believe any of that diminish or devalue the show in any negative way, those to me, are Moreso learning opportunities. The plot and storyline although, at times are predictable, there are a couple of unexpected twist, that catches you off guard in addition, to the amazing acting. I would recommend this series and, I look forward to season 3.
