Zero Day, a 2025 American political thriller directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, was released on February 20, 2025, on Netflix.

Zero Day is about a former president of the United States played by Robert De Niro, who was given the authority by the current president played by Angela Bassett, to investigate a cyberterrorist attack that resulted in over 3,000 deaths.

Robert De Niro role as George Mullen, who’s not only the former president but also a prosecutor and Vietnam War veteran whose dedicated his life to his country along with his wife, who’s currently nominated for a judgeship on the 2nd Court of Appeals follow by his daughter, a Congressional representative from New York’s 10th District.

This series was not exactly what I expected for one, the script didn’t make any sense from the beginning. This is a cyberattack that leaves the country in the dark for a few minutes then, once everything is done, a former president/prosecutor is called to investigate. However, the same retired president is also struggling with his own personal demons, family issues and the loss of his son. There is nothing captivating about the cyberattack or any of the events that unfold in the manner that it occurs.

Furthermore, the plot was dull, uneventful, a lot of holes, and cinematography was not that great either. Unfortunately, the series never recovered from that initial episode all the way to the 6th. I would not consider this series to be a political thriller, as it has an outstanding cast, but it has a weak script with an outdated political ideology. Zero Day
