His & Hers is an American mystery thriller limited series starring Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson. Adapted from Alice Feeney’s 2020 novel of the same name, the series premiered on Netflix on January 8, 2026, and consists of six episodes.
The series follows Detective Jack Harper (Jon Bernthal) in the small town of Dahlonega as he investigates a string of mysterious deaths. His estranged wife, Anna (Tessa Thompson), a news reporter for WSK TV News, returns to her hometown to cover the homicides.
His & Hers has all the ingredients crime fans crave: gruesome murders, personal connections between the victims and those involved, tragic backstories, salacious affairs, and poor choices with serious consequences. The storytelling is engaging, and both Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal deliver strong performances, supported by an impressive supporting cast.
The cinematography suited the show’s locations well, and the sound design added to its higher-quality production compared to the average whodunit series. However, despite being engaging, the plot was somewhat predictable. For instance, the tragic event on Anna’s 16th birthday, which occurred over 20 years ago, hinted early on at a likely sexual assault and revealed that her so-called “friends” were never truly trustworthy. Similarly, the personal connections, hidden secrets, and their links to the deaths became fairly easy to anticipate.
Aside from these issues, His & Hers is a highly binge-worthy series, especially the finale, which I predicted as early as episode three. My main concern with the murders is that the story seemed to focus primarily on the women who planned the incidents, while the men who carried them out faced no consequences. I would have preferred to see all the perpetrators receive the punishment they deserved.
Overall, though, this is an enjoyable series worth watching.
