Holland, a 2025 American psychological film directed by Mimi Cave. The film was written by Andrew Sodroski, starring Nicole Kidman (Nancy), and was released on March 27, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video.

Set in the small Midwestern town of Holland, Michigan, the film follows Nancy, a teacher living with her husband, Fred, and their 13-year-old son in what appears to be a picture-perfect middle-class community. Fred, an optometrist, frequently travels for out-of-town conferences, but his unusual behavior raises Nancy’s suspicions. Convinced he may be leading a double life and having an affair, she enlists the help of Dave, a fellow teacher, to uncover the truth. As romantic feelings develop between Nancy and Dave, she devises a plan to catch Fred in the act and secure a divorce. However, as she digs deeper, Nancy begins to suspect that Fred’s secrets go beyond infidelity, he might be a serial killer.

The concept of this film had promise, aiming to deliver a compelling mystery drama with a nostalgic touch. However, the execution fell short due to weak writing, a flawed script, and poor direction. The storytelling felt incoherent, lacking the necessary context to explain what was happening or why. The plot structure unraveled quickly, failing to build toward a true mystery and instead creating more confusion. Furthermore, this film is far from being a psychological thriller, as it was seemingly intended. The only redeeming qualities were the experienced cast and solid cinematography, which made it somewhat watchable.

Unfortunately, this movie never recovered after the first 30 minutes, making it a complete waste of time. The plot was predictable, the characters were underdeveloped, and the story lacked originality, depth, and substance. With a poorly executed narrative and dull pacing, it failed to leave any lasting impression.

I wouldn’t recommend wasting time on this one unless you have time to waste. Holland   Holland
