Couple of Critics Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Couple of Critics community.

Couple of Critics is a place for people who love movies, television, concerts, restaurants, travel, books, podcasts, attractions, technology, entertainment, and culture to share their opinions and discover what others think.

We expect people to disagree. In fact, different opinions are part of what makes a review community interesting. You can disagree with a critic, an audience score, a review, or another member. Just keep the conversation respectful.

By creating an account, posting a comment or review, submitting a rating, or otherwise participating on Couple of Critics, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines.

1. Respect Other Members

Treat other members, critics, creators, employees, and guests with respect.

Allowed:

Disagreeing with someone’s review or rating.
Debating whether a movie, show, concert, restaurant, or other experience was good or bad.
Explaining why you disagree with a critic.
Strong opinions about entertainment and culture.
Constructive criticism.

Not allowed:

Personal attacks.
Name-calling or bullying.
Threats or intimidation.
Harassment.
Encouraging others to target or harass another person.
Repeatedly contacting someone after they have asked you to stop.

Attack the opinion, not the person.

Instead of:
“You’re an idiot if you liked this movie.”

Try:
“I completely disagree. I thought the story was predictable and the ending didn’t work.”

2. Different Opinions Are Welcome

There is no requirement that your rating agree with Couple of Critics, one of our critics, the audience score, or popular opinion.

A critic may give something an A while you think it deserves an F. That’s okay.

We will not remove a review simply because it is negative or because we disagree with it.

However, disagreement does not give anyone permission to harass or insult another member.

3. Reviews Should Be Genuine

Ratings and reviews should represent your actual opinion or experience.

Do not:

Submit fake reviews.
Create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings.
Coordinate groups of people to artificially raise or lower a score.
Use bots or automated systems to submit ratings.
Review something repeatedly for the purpose of changing its audience score.
Accept payment, gifts, discounts, or other compensation for a review without disclosing it.
Pretend to have attended, watched, purchased, visited, or experienced something when you did not.

We may remove ratings or reviews that appear to be part of coordinated score manipulation or review bombing.

4. Keep Reviews Relevant

Your review should relate to the movie, television show, concert, restaurant, cruise, attraction, book, podcast, technology product, or other item being reviewed.

Reviews should not be used for unrelated arguments, advertisements, spam, or personal disputes.

For example, a restaurant review should primarily discuss your experience with the restaurant, food, service, atmosphere, value, or another relevant part of your visit.

5. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

Content attacking or degrading people based on protected characteristics is not permitted.

This includes attacks based on characteristics such as:

Race
Ethnicity
Nationality
Religion
Gender
Gender identity
Sexual orientation
Disability
Age or other protected characteristics

Discussions about controversial subjects may be permitted when they are relevant to the work being reviewed, but those conversations must remain respectful.

6. No Threats or Promotion of Violence

Do not post credible threats, encourage violence, celebrate violence against another community member, or attempt to intimidate someone through threats of physical harm.

Serious threats may result in immediate account suspension or removal.

7. Keep Sexual and Explicit Content Appropriate

Discussions about adult themes may sometimes be relevant to movies, television, books, concerts, or other content being reviewed.

However, users may not post:

Pornographic material.
Explicit sexual images.
Sexually exploitative content.
Unwanted sexual comments directed at another member.
Sexual content involving minors.
Links primarily intended to distribute prohibited explicit material.

8. Protect People’s Privacy

Do not post another person’s private or identifying information without permission.

This includes information such as:

Home addresses.
Private telephone numbers.
Personal email addresses.
Financial information.
Passwords or login information.
Private conversations.
Other sensitive personal information.

Never threaten to expose someone’s private information because of a disagreement.

9. No Spam or Unapproved Advertising

The community sections of Couple of Critics are intended for discussion and reviews, not free advertising.

Do not repeatedly post:

Business advertisements.
Affiliate links.
Promotional links.
Referral codes.
Event advertisements.
Unrelated social media accounts.
Repetitive promotional messages.

Businesses, studios, publicists, creators, and other organizations interested in advertising, partnerships, review consideration, or promotional opportunities should use the appropriate Couple of Critics contact channels.

10. Spoilers

We want people to discuss movies and shows freely while respecting people who have not seen them.

When possible:

Clearly identify spoilers.
Use available spoiler warnings or formatting.
Avoid major spoilers in review titles.
Give people reasonable warning before discussing major endings, deaths, twists, or surprises.

Once a title has been available for a significant amount of time, spoiler restrictions may be relaxed, but being considerate of other members is always encouraged.

11. Don’t Impersonate Other People

Do not create an account pretending to be:

A Couple of Critics critic.
Another community member.
A celebrity.
A business.
A movie studio.
A restaurant.
A public figure.
Another organization or individual.

Parody or fan accounts should make it clear that they are not official.

12. Usernames and Profile Content

Usernames, profile photos, bios, and other profile information must also follow these Community Guidelines.

We may require a username, profile image, or profile description to be changed if it contains prohibited, misleading, threatening, hateful, or excessively explicit content.

13. Copyright and Ownership

Only upload or post content that you created, have permission to use, or are otherwise legally permitted to share.

Do not copy another critic’s entire review and present it as your own.

Quoting a small portion of someone’s work for discussion may be appropriate, but the original creator should be credited when appropriate.

14. Critics, Businesses and Creators May Respond

People and organizations discussed in reviews may disagree with what is written about them.

Businesses, artists, creators, studios, representatives, and other parties are welcome to participate when appropriate, but they must follow the same rules as everyone else.

They may not threaten, intimidate, or harass someone simply because they received a negative review.

Likewise, community members may not harass a business owner, employee, performer, critic, or creator because of a disagreement.

15. Conflicts of Interest

Transparency matters.

Critics and community members should disclose significant relationships that could reasonably influence a review.

Examples include:

Complimentary admission.
Free products.
Sponsored travel.
Free meals.
Paid partnerships.
Employment relationships.
Significant personal or business relationships.

Receiving complimentary access does not automatically make a review invalid. The relationship should simply be disclosed when appropriate.

16. Audience Score Manipulation

Our audience ratings are intended to represent genuine community opinion.

Attempts to manipulate an audience score are prohibited.

We may exclude ratings from audience scores when we reasonably believe they resulted from bots, duplicate accounts, coordinated campaigns, fraudulent activity, or other manipulation.

Removing fraudulent ratings is not considered changing someone’s legitimate opinion. It is intended to protect the integrity of the rating system.

17. Reporting Content

If you believe a review, comment, profile, or other content violates these guidelines, please report it rather than starting a confrontation.

When reviewing reports, we may consider:

The content itself.
Context.
Severity of the violation.
Previous violations.
Whether the behavior appears intentional or coordinated.
Potential harm to other members or the community.

Reporting something does not guarantee that it will be removed.

Enforcement

Violations may result in action depending on the seriousness and frequency of the behavior.

Possible actions include:

Content Removal
A comment, review, rating, photo, or other content may be removed.
Warning
The member may receive a warning explaining the violation.
Temporary Restrictions
Certain account features may temporarily be restricted.
Temporary Suspension
The account may be suspended for a period of time.
Permanent Ban
Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent removal from the Couple of Critics community.
Immediate Removal
Severe violations, including credible threats, serious harassment, fraudulent activity, exploitation, or dangerous behavior, may result in immediate account termination without prior warning.

Creating additional accounts to avoid a suspension or permanent ban may result in those accounts also being removed.

Moderation Decisions

Couple of Critics reserves the right to review, restrict, remove, or restore community content when necessary to enforce these guidelines and protect the integrity of the platform.

Moderation decisions may consider context and are not necessarily based only on whether a particular word or phrase was used.

We also reserve the right to update these Community Guidelines as the Couple of Critics community and website evolve.

Our Community Philosophy

You don’t have to agree. You do have to respect the community.

Couple of Critics was built around opinions. Critics will disagree with audiences. Audiences will disagree with critics. Members will disagree with each other.

That’s part of the experience.

Give your rating. Write your review. Defend your opinion. Challenge ours.

Just remember that there is a person on the other side of the screen.

Watch it. Experience it. Rate it. Discuss it. Respect the community.
