Mercy for None is a 2025 South Korean action-noir television series, written by Yoo Ki-song and directed by Choi Sung-eun. Starring So Ji-sub, Huh Joon-ho, and others, the series is based on the webtoon Plaza Wars: Mercy for None by Oh Se-hyung and Kim Geun-tae.
The limited series premiered on Netflix on June 6, 2025, and consists of seven episodes, each approximately 42 minutes long.
I’m going to start by saying: if you’re a fan of Korean revenge thrillers, Mercy for None is definitely your cup of tea. This webtoon-based series is, without a doubt, one of my favorites and one of the best I’ve seen in the genre so far.
While the plot follows a familiar formula typical of many Korean revenge stories where a character is on an unrelenting quest to destroy everyone responsible for their pain, it still manages to deliver edge-of-your-seat excitement and emotional intensity.
The fight scenes and production design in Mercy for None are top-notch, well choreographed, sharp, and unapologetically bloody. The camera work deserves special mention: it captures the intensity of each confrontation with just the right amount of movement, making the action thrilling without ever feeling disorienting. The series carries that high-energy melee style we’ve come to expect from top-tier South Korean thrillers.
I especially loved the brutal hand-to-hand combat, the varied blade-fighting techniques, and the now-iconic baseball bat, often accompanied by blood-splattered on the walls and fallen bodies. The lighting and overall tone are spot-on, perfectly matching the dark, vengeful atmosphere of the story.
Overall, Mercy for None is a well-crafted series across the board, from its sharp writing and powerful performances to its tight direction. It stands out as one of the rawest, grittiest, and most visceral action series I’ve seen, fully embodying the brutal and unrelenting spirit behind its title.
