The Accident is a Mexican thriller-drama television series directed by Klych López and Gracia Querejeta, with a screenplay by Leonardo Padrón. The series premiered on Netflix on August 21, 2024, and its second season debuted on December 10, 2025.

The series stars Ana Claudia Talancón, Erick Elías, Eréndira Ibarra, Valentina Acosta, and many others. The plot centers on the emotional fallout following a horrifying accident in which three children die during a birthday party when a bouncy castle, filled with children, is swept away by strong winds.

The show follows multiple families affected by the tragedy, exploring how grief, blame, and vengeance consume them as they struggle to make sense of the accident. It examines how far some parents will go to punish those they hold responsible and how their actions strain relationships within the small community.

Much of the drama centers on two families. Daniela, a police detective, is coping with her own loss while investigating the case, alongside her husband, who is struggling with guilt and grief. In contrast, Charro and his family are consumed by revenge, determined to make someone pay for their own tragic loss.

The cast delivers raw emotional energy, effectively capturing the chaos, grief, and fractured trust following the tragedy. However, the series often leans into soap-opera–style melodrama and predictable twists rather than a tightly constructed thriller. Overblown dialogue, plot developments that stretch credibility, and exaggerated or irrational character decisions are noticeable at times. Despite these flaws, the show remains engaging, offering an emotionally charged, dramatic ride filled with tension and interpersonal conflict.

In the end, the series features strong performances, though it doesn’t always stick the landing. Still, if you enjoy melodramatic, relationship-driven storytelling, The Accident is worth a watch.
