Running Point is an American sports comedy series starring Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver, Brenda Song, and more. Season 1 premiered on Netflix on February 27, 2025, followed by Season 2 on April 23, 2026, with both seasons consisting of 10 episodes.

The series centers on a reformed party girl who is unexpectedly put in charge of her family’s professional basketball team and must prove she’s capable of leading both the business and the players.

Running Point is a solid, entertaining comedy with familiar, likeable characters that make it an easy watch. However, it doesn’t offer much depth, often staying at a surface level. The writing feels mid-tier, relying on common tropes and well-worn themes that have been seen many times before, so it doesn’t bring anything particularly new to the genre.

That said, the show is well-paced, and the training sequences and game scenes are engaging. It does a good job highlighting the players’ personal sacrifices and internal conflicts, even if those elements aren’t especially original.
Overall, it’s a genuinely likable, easygoing series that’s worth checking out—just don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
